Interpretive Tours of Glacier National Park

The historic (1936 -1939) Red Buses are both a symbol of Glacier National Park and a reminder of a time when adventurous travel was done with style and grace. Our vintage touring coach drivers are called “Jammers” by the locals; a name which carries over from the days when the buses had standard transmissions and the drivers could be heard “jamming” the gears as they drove up and down the rugged mountain highway.

On each tour, adventure awaits as a Jammer picks you up at your preselected origin and welcomes you onboard the same way Jammers have done for over 90 years with the “roll call”. Once on board, you will enjoy the bus’ unique canvas top, which rolls back allowing all 17 passengers a commanding view of the spectacular scenery within Glacier National Park. HUCKLEBERRY MOUNTAIN TOUR*

Available daily from 5/24/09 to 6/18/09 and 9/21/09 to 9/26/09

Delve into the great cedar and hemlock forests that lie within the Lake McDonald Valley on your way to Sacred Dancing Cascade. Return past Lake McDonald Lodge for amazing scenic and wildlife viewing opportunities on your tour up Camas Creek Road to the little explored North Fork region of Glacier National Park. Enjoy an easy and optional walk on the Huckleberry Mountain Nature Trail before your return trip through the spectacular burn areas of the fires of 2003.

CROWN OF THE CONTINENT TOUR*

Available daily from 6/19/09 to 9/20/09

Your journey starts in the cedar and hemlock forests of the Lake McDonald Valley. Travel up the Going-to-the-Sun Road along a glacially formed aręte to the top of the Crown of the Continent at Logan Pass. Head down through the St. Mary Valley and out to the prairies of Big Sky Country. Continue on into the magnificent Swiftcurrent Valley. Enjoy views of glaciers during an optional lunch in Many Glacier Hotel’s Ptarmigan Dining Room. Experience an encore vista on your return trip to the west side.

MOUNTAIN MAJESTY TOUR*

Available daily from 7/1/09 to 9/20/09

Start your tour in the Lake McDonald Valley, one of the few Montana rain forests. Soon you will be traversing the side of a glacially carved valley while touring on the Going-to-the-Sun Road over Logan pass. After a stop at the Visitor Center, head down into the cirques of the St. Mary Valley with an optional lunch/dinner at Rising Sun’s Two Dog Flats Grill. *Afternoon Tour is not available after 9/7/09.

Deposit and Cancellation Policy:

50% Deposit due at time of booking trip. Deposits are fully refundable for 30 days from reservation date. Cancellations from 31 days after reservation date to 3 days prior to tour departure will receive a refund less $15 per person administrative fee. Cancellations within 3 days of tour departure will forfeit the full deposit. Cancellation of reservations made within 30 days prior to tour departure are subject to the $15 per person administrative fee.
